Ba Ria – Vung Tau Port is one of the most important seaports in Vietnam, belonging to the group of seaports No. 4, located in the key economic region of the South. It is considered as the economic locomotive, the center of industrial development, tourism and the largest service in the country, with a dynamic and creative development speed.
The strategic location of Ba Ria – Vung Tau seaport is reflected in its role as a gateway to the sea for the Southeast region, and at the same time, an important international trade hub for the Mekong Delta. This seaport also acts as a gateway to the sea for the southern economic corridor of the Greater Mekong Subregion.
All previous port development plans have identified Ba Ria – Vung Tau port as a national port, an international gateway. The port not only plays the role of a gateway to the sea for the entire region but also aims at the function of international transshipment, contributing to promoting trade and economic development in the region.
Multimodal connectivity system, improving transportation efficiency
The Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu seaport is currently connected through three main modes: sea, road, and inland waterway. However, according to the development plan, the seaport system will be fully connected with five modes of transport with the completion of the Long Thành Airport mega-project and the Biên Hòa – Vũng Tàu railway line.
Development goals:
With its outstanding potential and strengths, the planning of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu province for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050, has set the following goals:
By 2030: To become one of the important driving forces for development in the Southeast region, being in the group of 5 localities leading the development of the marine economy in the country.
By 2050: To become the industrial center of the Southeast region, the national maritime economic center, the maritime service center of Southeast Asia, and the high-quality international tourism center.t
